Frequently Asked Questions  

Q. What do I do if my child has to be taken out of school for a Doctor or Dentist appointment?
A. It is requested that parents try to arrange appointments out of school hours. Where this is not possible please notify the school 24 hours in advance.

Q. What do I do if my child would like to take musical instrument lessons?
A. Please contact
Mrs Robinson at school reception for an application form.

Q. What happens if my child is taken ill at school?
A. Many of the staff are St John's Ambulance trained First Aiders who will attend to your child in the event of illness or injury. The school will contact the child's parents if we consider the child is not fit to remain at school.

Q. What do I do if my child is going to be unavoidably late for school?
A. Contact the school as soon as possible and bring your child to reception on arrival.

Q. What happens if my child has to take medication during school hours/activities?
A. Please collect a 'medication form' from the school reception.

Q. How does my child get involved in extra curricular activities?
A. The school will notify parents of activity options via the school newsletter which will contain an application form. Once the form is completed it must then be returned to the school reception.

Q. What happens if my child has lost some things while at school?
A. Children should not bring valuable items to school. All personal items should be clearly labelled with the child's name. There is a lost property box that is cleared at the end of each school year.

Q. How do I get a Secondary School place for my child?
A. Places are offered early in Year 6 according to your child's address, but you are free to apply to any secondary school. Prospectuses are available and phone numbers are in the directory. From this school we regularly send pupils to:-
Littlehampton, Angmering, St Phillip Howard RC (Barnham), Felpham, Westergate, Bishop Luffa CE (Chichester), the Chichester High Schools and local private schools.

Q. What should I do if I have a complaint?
A. The school has an established complaints procedure. Details are available from the school office. I the first instance, please approach the class teacher.
