JENKINS CLASS – TOPIC LETTER FOR SPRING TERM 2012Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome back for an exciting Spring Term - we hope you had a wonderful Christmas and wish you all a Happy New Year. Our topic this term is called 'Lights, Camera, Action!' and, as you might expect, will involve learning about films and making some. If any of you have particular film related expertise, please let us know. Our skills workshops will be focussed on collage in art, film making in ICT, moving components in DT and research skills and vocabulary in geography. In PE we will be swimming on Fridays and will continue to have our sessions with Mike Gillam on alternate Wednesdays. The remaining session will probably be indoors, depending on the weather. Please ensure that your child has PE kit in school at all times. Please remember too, that if they attend an early morning sports club they must have school shoes to change into afterwards. After swimming on Fridays we will continue with our music lessons led by Miss Maggs. Our end of term concert is on 23rd March at the later time of 10.45 am. The work that we have all done on times tables is really beginning to pay off and be reflected in maths assessments. Please help your child again with tables this term. Some children believe that if they have done well in a test once, then they know that table for ever. This is not always the case! We will be working through our tables again this term with weekly tests on Fridays. The tests will include division facts as before, so please support your child to learn these too. Our homework for the term is outlined below. We try to include a mixture of straightforward exercises and more open ended activities. Please support your child to complete these tasks, but if they are becoming a battle, then mention it to Miss Poole or Mrs Llewelyn. Similarly, if any issue arises or you are worried about any aspect of your child's school life, please speak to one of us so that we can work together to resolve matters.
