Geography in Years 1 and 2 Summer 2026

As part of our Geography learning, pupils explored the school grounds using Google Earth, identifying key features such as the field, buildings and playground. They learned how to use a simple compass to locate North and understand cardinal directions.

Children then sat in the centre of the school field and sketched a bird’s‑eye view of their surroundings, creating freehand maps that included both human and physical features. During our Explore and Learn sessions, pupils worked collaboratively to design their own large‑scale maps, developing important fieldwork and map‑making skills.
