Start of the Day

From September 2025 

Our gates open at 8.35am. Children can come through the main gate with their parents/carers and be taken to the relevant door for entry. Members of staff will welcome the children at the front gate, at the door, and in their classroom. This ensures every child gets a positive welcome to school. This helps to alleviate parking pressure in the lane. Children in Year 6 may come to school independently, but please note that we cannot take responsibility for them before they enter the school grounds. All children MUST be in school by 8.40am for registration. The gate will close at 8.45am. Pupils arriving after this time will be marked late in the register.

These arrangements will be different for children joining reception during the transition period.

End of the Day

From September 2025 

At 3.10pm, children will be dismissed from the external doors. If you wish to speak to your child’s teacher at this point, please wait until all the children have been dismissed. Children in Year 6 may make their way home independently, but we ask that you inform the office. If someone different is picking up your child, please inform the school office.

After School clubs

If your child is attending after school clubs they will finish at 4pm (unless otherwise stated) and collection will either be from the front door or the side gate. 

In a typical week the total time St Mary's C.E. Primary School is open amounts to 32.5 hours.
